WILLIE SMITH Obituary

Willie Mae Smith was born on May 2, 1947, to parents, Marjorie Lee and Clayton Sanders in Seguin, Texas. Willie Mae accepted Jesus Christ at a young age.

Willie Mae was brought up in the church and attended regularly with her grandmother. Willie Mae moved to San Antonio when she was young with her parents. Willie Mae married Douglas Smith in 1970. They have been married for 51 years. Willie Mae loved Doug and Doug loved Willie Mae.

Willie Mae loved life and she loved to dance and play her some cards. She was the life of the card game. Willie Mae would always say you know I can’t see what that card is and would win the game.

Willie Mae loved to bake cakes no matter the occasion, she would bake cakes. She enjoyed seeing us eating and talking about who was getting the chocolate cake (Andrea and Jeffrey).

Willie Mae was preceded in death by her mother, Marjorie Lee; stepfather, Robert Lee, father, Clayton Sanders; her son, Darrell Bates; niece, Jacqueline Bell and her in-laws: Henry and Victoria Smith, Bennie Smith, Ollie B. Coles and Nadine Edwards.

Willie Mae has left treasured memories to her husband, Douglas Smith; two sons, Lawrence Sanders (Barbara), Paul Lawrence Houston (Daniella) and daughter, Dorothy Bates (Elijah); two sisters, Marjorie Givens (Robert) and Johnita Bell (Bubba) and four grandkids. One sister-in-law, Bertha Smith, one aunt, Florence Rendon, one nephew, Jeffrey; two nieces, Andrea and Lisa, who had a special place in her heart along with loving relatives and friends.
