William (James, Jim, Jimmy, Bill) Lee Armstrong was healthy, strong and of sound mind when his life was taken in a fatal car accident. Through no fault of his own, his life was cut short by a careless driver that was under the influence of a mind altering substance. On Wednesday, October 21, 2020 Dad drove from the gym (his heaven on earth) and found himself in the company of our Heavenly Father in glory.
William was born December 27, 1946 in Houston, TX to Maggie Mc Neil and Emeal Wesley Armstrong. He graduated from Highlands High School where he was a track and football star and earned several scholarships, Mizzou, Michigan, and Trinity to name a few. He earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from St. Mary’s University, and Trinity University. William was a college professor at St. Phillips College. He worked as a computer software engineer at Lockheed Martin, IBM, and as a Marketing and Sales Representative at NCR. William retired from wearing suits and ties at the age of 50. From there he had his own personal training business as well as an accounting consulting business. William loved working out. He was in the gym every day.
Most recently William lived in Palm Springs. Prior to Palm Springs he lived in the bay area of California for over 40 years, where he spent several years taking care of his mother’s sister, until her passing. William is survived by his only child, Amber Adriahn Armstrong, 2 brothers Jackie and Wesley Armstrong, many cousins, nieces, and nephews. While William was a private man, he had many friends who cared about him dearly. He spoke to everyone and knew no strangers. William loved the Lord and served him through acts of kindness, tithes and offerings. He was a God fearing man who avidly studied the Bible and sought understanding on a daily basis. William was a scholar and a gentleman and will be missed.
