Stephanie, affectionately called Steph or Stephie, was born to Noel Uriah Newry and Irene Elaine Beach-Newry on 3 July 1942. The Lord called her home on Sunday, 13 March 2022. Stephanie had two brothers and one sister – Norman Newry, Colin Newry and Carol Newry-Burgher.
Noel and Irene Newry and family migrated from Jamaica – a British Colony then – to Great Britain and became naturalized British citizens. Stephanie attended Keble Memorial Primary School, Pound Lane Secondary School, and Kilburn Polytechnic College where she studied Business Administration and Bookkeeping.
While on vacation in Germany she met Anthony Alvin Williams, a United States Air Force Sergeant. He was on assignment to the 1992nd Communications Squadron, Chateauroux Air Station in France. The friendship grew and Stephanie and Anthony, were married in the United Kingdom on 14 September 1968.
Stephanie moved to the United States of America in 1970. She resided in Dover, Delaware, with her husband Anthony, who was assigned to the Dover AFB as a Shift Supervisor and Assistant NCOIC for the base telecommunications center; in Guam when her husband was transferred to Anderson AFB in 1978; Tillamook, Oregon 1980; and San Antonio, Texas in 1987, where her husband Master Sergeant Williams was the Chief, Media Development Branch, Directorate of Communications-Computer Systems Security, Kelly Air Force Base. After retirement they made San Antonio their home.
Stephanie continued her education and certified in studies such as Management Relations for Personal Specialists, Employee Training and Development, Educational Aide, Personnel Management for Operating Managers, Supervisory Management, and Marketing Research. She worked as an accountant with Cross and Blackwell, L. D. Abrahams in England; and different areas of AFFES in the USA. She also did marketing research and was an Instructional Aide at the Northside Independent School District.
Steph was a member of the Forget Me Not Sisters, a group of women who volunteer their time and resources to assist the needy and loved to travel. Children in public schools, nursing and retirement homes have benefitted from their generosity. Letters of commendation and certificates of appreciation verify that her selfless service to the Lackland Air Force Base Community; Disabled American Veterans. The 59th Medical Wing and the Lackland Fisher House were highly appreciated.
Stephanie, a Christian, united with the Macedonia Baptist Church. She actively participated in church and related activities, until the emergence of COVID-19, then became a faithful watcher of the online services.
In her later years Stephanie experienced many health issues and remained brave but lost the battle with cancer.
Stephanie was pre-deceased by her parents Noel and Irene Newry; husband Master Sergeant Anthony Williams; and brothers Norman and Colin Newry. She leaves to mourn and cherish her memories sister, Carol Newry Burgher; sister in law and brother in law Deidra and Peter Wilson; sister in law Ella Jackson; nieces Hayley Newry Smith; Chantelle Newry Spence; Jacqueline Newry Geddes; Patricia and Kim Jackson; nephews Michael Burgher; Levi Newry; Curtis Shepherd; grand nieces and nephews Spencer Lammy, Xola Burgher; Syon and Kamani Newry Smith; Lamar, Laiyarna, & Lataiyia Williams; Lamae Sheriff; Natasha and Imani Shepherd; great grandnieces Toni and Nova; cousins and dear friends.
