SSG (Retired) R.C. WILSON Obituary

R.C. Wilson (Jack) was the fifth child of six. He was born on February 27, 1931, to Reverend Rufus and Odessa Wilson in San Antonio, Texas. He went to grammar school in San Antonio, Texas and graduated from Phillis Wheatley High School.  

R.C. Wilson accept Jesus Christ as his savior at early age. He served as Deacon of the church and the Brotherhood at Mt Sinai Baptist Church. He was member of the church choir, member on usher board and also, member of San Antonio Echo Gospel Group.

R.C. Wilson joined the U.S. Army where he served in the Korean War and two terms in the Vietnam War. He retired after 20 years of service with Honorable Discharge in October 1972.

Following his military career he enrolled at St Phillip College where he received his Associated Degree in Air Conditioning and Heating. He went on to work for the North Side School District with the Maintenance Department where he retired.

R.C. Wilson married Lorise Brown on November 11, 1954 (67 years) and with their union blessed with four girls Thelma Bell, Sarah Conway, Betty Jean Perkins and Belinda Whitby.

R.C.Wilson was preceded in death by his parents Reverend Rufus and Odessa Wilson, Millie Jean Wilson (sister), Kirjath Wilson and Reuben (brothers), Vivian P Cantu (sister), Danny Bell (grandson) and Liam Nagy (great-grandson).

R.C. Wilson leaves behind his wife of 67 years Lorise Wilson, Sister Saleta Rogers, Daughters Thelma Bell, Sarah Conway and husband Lawrence Conway, Betty Jean Perkins and Jeff Beadle, and his baby girl Belinda Whitby. Seven grandchildren Anthony Bell, Danny Bell,  Lauren and Chris Nagy, Gloria Evans and Travis Jordan, Xavier Perkins, Ronald and Elizabeth Whitby, and Tim Whitby and Brianne Galvan. Also, twelve great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren and host on nieces, nephews, family and friends.
