SHIRLEY SMITH Obituary

I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. 2 Timothy 4:7-8

Shirley Marie Smith was born to Carnegie Barnes, Jr. and Thelma Lee Barnes on January 16, 1953 in Liberty, TX. She graduated from Sterling High School in Houston, TX in 1972. Shirley had many accomplishments throughout her lifetime. She led a successful career at Ford Motor Credit for 25 years. During her time at Ford, Shirley lived and worked in Detroit, Ml, Houston, TX, Phoenix, AZ and Tampa, FL. She later retired and gained other employment at Wells Fargo and Randolph Brooks Federal Credit Union in San Antonio, TX.

Shirley is survived by her mother, Thelma Barnes, five siblings: Barry Hall, Linda Roberts (Andrew Roberts, Sr.), Gloria Jefferson (Douglas Jefferson), Gwendolyn Reed (Wallace Reed, Jr.), and Cornelia Scott; three children: Shirron Guillory, Roshawn Marshal (Richard Marshal) and Ronald Guillory; five grandchildren: Andre McDonald, Christopher Marshal, Amon Marshal, Solomon Marshal, and Bianca Gonzales,; six great grandchildren: Jayden McDonald, Chrishawn Marshal, Chiron Marshal, Cameron Marshal, Victoria Marshal, and Lilian Reina, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends. Shirley loved her family dearly and supported each of them through all of their endeavors. She taught them by her love, devotion and loyalty. She always expressed the value of family, the importance of being kind to others and the significance of having a strong work ethic.

 Shirley was baptized at St. John Baptist Church in Columbia, SC and was a member of Eastwood Community Missionary Baptist Church in San Antonio, TX.

On October 2, 2020, Shirley was called home to be with our Lord. She was preceded in death by her father, Carnegie Barnes, Jr. and other family members and friends that have gone to glory.

The family of Shirley Smith is rejoiced that she is at peace with our heavenly father. She will be forever missed and we will continue to cherish her in our hearts for a lifetime and beyond.
