Robert Edgar Gant was born December 15, 1947 to the late Elvin Gant Sr. and Dorothy Wilson Gant. Affectionately known as “Bobby”. A graduate of George W Brackenridge High School. He later joined the Unites States Army and served in the Vietnam War. He came home a hero with many accolades and honors.
He married the love of his life Regina Julia Keyes Gant. To this union there were four loving and deeply caring children. Employed by the City of San Antonio and later the Pearl Brewing Company for many years. After retiring he pursued his love for music as lead vocalist, with the Justifiers and later moved to Las Vegas with a Touch of Silk. An entertainer in Las Vegas for over 20 years, before he retired from music and returned home.
The Patriarch of his family he loved to garden, build, fish and entertain friends and family. He was an extremely loving and dedicated father, brother, uncle, cousin, grandfather, and great grandfather. Family was everything to him. “BG” as he was called was also a father to many of his children’s friends. Everyone always knew they were at home, at BG’s house.
He leaves to cherish his loving memory daughter’s Cynthia L. Wright (Joseph), Tamm M. Chastang, son’s Robert E. Keyes and Ronald B. Gant. Brother Elvin Gant Jr.(Washington, D.C), sister’s Ethedia Harris and Rita Edwards. Mother in law Ruth E Mason, Brother in law Edward Richardson and Sister in law Sandra Mason. Seven grandchildren, Tori L. Gant, Tranay S. Gant (Aaron), Tieara Thomas, Robert E. Keyes Jr, Ronald B Gant Jr, Isley Keyes, and Irhianna Keyes, and Six great grandchildren.
