RUDOLPH DILLON Obituary

2 Timothy 4:7-8 (KJV)

7 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:

8 Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.

Rudolph M. Dillon, loving known as "Rudy D" was the third child born to the late Rudolph Dillon Sr. and Winona Dillon in Chicago, Illinois on April 29, 1956.  As a young man he confessed a hope in Christ and joined St. James A.M.E.  He later moved to San Antonio, TX where he united with St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. J.V. Winters and was baptized by Rev. Joe E. Barber.  He was a gifted drummer and used his God-given talent to play in church.

Rudy received his formal education in the Chicago school system where he attended Harlan High School.  He was part of the four man State Championship track relay team in 1974.  He played drums on the drum line for the high school band.  After graduation in 1974, he continued his studies at Western Illinois University.  In San Antonio he studied at the University of Incarnate Word and San Antonio College where he received his Associates in Business Administration.

Rudy married the love of his life Patricia and they were married for 30 glorious years. To this union one son Andre Dillon was born.

Rudy had a strong and hardworking work ethic.  He worked at USAA in Mortgaging for 17 years, then presently at Citibank for over 20 years as a Fraud Specialist.

Rudy loved being out in the community supporting various walkathons of his favorite charities. March of Dimes, Diabetes, Sickle Cell, American Heart Association just to mention a few.  He enjoyed a relaxing evening of cards with friends and felt that he was the best "Bid Whist" player around.  He found pleasure in listening to Jazz and frequently attended all of the festivals held in San Antonio.

Rudy was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, son and brother.  He never forgot a birthday or any special day in the lives of his family members as well as friends.  He will always be remembered for his gentleness, kindness, humble and giving spirit.

On September 27, 2018 Rudy answered the Lord's call and made the transition from life here on earth to his eternal life in Heaven.

Rudy was preceded in death by his father, Rudolph Dillon Sr. and son Lonnie Franklin, Jr.  He leaves to cherish his memory a devoted wife Patricia Dillon; two sons Andre and Mark; three daughters Tammy, Stephanie (Daniel) and Shavonna; mother, Winona Dillon; three sisters Diane, Roxanne, and Theresa; three brothers-in- law; sixteen grandchildren, one great-grandchild; Special brothers for life, Anthony Boughton, James Ladner and Ronald Thomas; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
