ROSETTA LOUD Obituary

Rosetta Godley Loud was born December 12, 1938, in Flatonia, Texas to the late Willie Mae Godley and Ardelia (Allen) Godley. She was the sixth of eight children born to this union. She was given the nickname “Puddin” that stuck with her for the duration of her life. Her loving parents and siblings: sisters-Cora Williams, Nancy “Nanny” Godley, Willie B. Williams, Audrey “Jean” Lighteard, Sewilla Felder; brothers-Robert Godley, Rubie “Brother” Godley, her beloved husband Charlie Loud Jr., her cherished grandson Cedric Alexander and her special sister of love Shirley Cage, all preceded her in death.

Rosetta was a devout Christian, her roots are deeply seeded in serving the all mighty, heavenly Father, God. She received Christ at an early age where she joined St. Paul A.M.E. Church in Flatonia, Texas. She would later move her membership to Ball Tabernacle A.M.E Church in San Antonio Texas. As a long time faithful servant at Ball Tabernacle, she was very active in the church serving in many capacities: choir, pianist, usher board, missionary, steward, youth Sunday school teacher, also a member of the benevolence committee. Her favorite scripture was Psalms 23:1-6.

Rosetta attended school in La Grange Texas where she graduated. In school she was very athletic, playing on the girl's baseball and basketball teams. She did further her education later in life taking some administrative courses at the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio, Texas.

Rosetta met and fell in love with her high school classmate Charlie M. Loud, Jr. (deceased). The two became inseparable, getting married on May 4, 1958. Charlie would refer to his beloved wife as “Rose” which became another lifelong name she would be remembered as.

Charlie and Rose would settle in San Antonio, Texas in the late 50’s. To this union there were five beautiful children born, two girls and three boys: Terry, Donald, Charles, Tyrone and Phyllis. Rosetta was elated and proud to be a mother, she loved her children so much. She would often refer to Terry as her independent little woman, Donald as her strong man, Charles as her mama’s little protector, Tyrone as her little troublemaker but a hard worker, and Phyllis as her baby girl. Rose, a devoted wife to Charlie, shared so much love and was blessed to spend over 62 plus years together here on earth, now they will be joined together once again for eternity.

Rosetta worked part-time on Fort Sam Houston Base as an Administrative Clerk for a couple of years, and the San Pedro Bowling Center as a Childcare Specialist. For the most part she was a stay-at-home mother who would take care of not only her children but her friends' children, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and as a Childcare Specialist working in a nursery taking care of strangers' children. She loved nurturing and caring for children, it was her purpose in life, and she was a phenomenal mother to every child in her care. Her favorite pastime was singing, playing the piano, playing games such as: Yahtzee, Bunco, Dominos, Bingo, many board games and an array of card games.

On January 16, 2024, at approximately 7:58 pm, Rosetta Godley Loud received a call from the Heavenly Father saying, “Well done, my good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things: enter into the joy of your Lord,” peacefully Rosetta transitioned to Heaven above.

Rosetta (Puddin/Rose) leaves to cherish her memory and celebrate her legacy of love, five loving and devoted children: Terry (James) Alexander of Smithville, TX; Donald (Carmen) Loud; Charles (Kathy) Loud; Tyrone (Katrina) Loud; and Phyllis (Rodrick) Smith all of San Antonio, TX.
