Rory L. Adams was born on December 22, 1959, in Taylor, Texas to the union of Rudloph and Ruby Adams. Rory grew up in San Marcos, Dallas, and San Antonio, Texas where he attended elementary and secondary schools. After he graduated high school, Rory enrolled in Automotive Mechanic School where he received his certification as a Master Mechanic and was employed by the South San Antonio Independent School District for more than 31 years until his retirement in 2021. Rory loved “keeping the buses running” for the students and would on occasion volunteer to drive the buses as needed due to bus driver shortages.
Rory accepted Christ as his savior at an early age at First Baptist Church of San Marcos, Texas where his grandfather, Reverend Laval Singleton was Pastor for many years. Rory was a gentle loving soul, very private person, and some would consider a man of very few words. Rory loved his family and would do anything for them. He did many memorable things for friends, acquaintances, and even strangers without boasting or complaining. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Rory is survived by: mother, Ruby Singleton Adams, San Antonio, TX; daughters, Twanna James (Edmon), Ocean Springs, Mississippi and Candyce Lozano, San Antonio, Texas; grandchildren, Quiana James, Zhanesia James, Annanesya James, and Landon James (children of Edmon and Twanna); two sisters, Ava Kriss Lott (David), Mesquite, TX and Karen Adams, San Antonio, TX; five nephews, Kerry Adams (Lisa), Houston, TX, Dillion and Mario Adams, San Antonio, TX and Justin and Jonathan Lott, Mesquite, TX; two nieces, Jessica Adams, San Antonio, TX and Kristina Lott, Houston, TX; and a host of relatives in San Antonio, Taylor, Austin, Plugerville and Killeen, Texas. He was also a caring father figure to Naedean Herrera and Yvonne Garcia, San Antonio, TX and a grandfather figure to Leroy Garcia (son of Yvonne Garcia).
