ROOSEVELT TENNESSEE Obituary

Roosevelt Tennessee was born June 19, 1936 to the union of Abe Tennessee and Marian Curnmings Tennessee. He is the first born of sixteen children. He is a native of Ferriday, Louisiana; there he attended the local public school system. After graduation from Sevier High school, he enlisted into the United State Air Force October 1, 1955; he was honorably discharged November 1, 1977. While in the military, he was trained in computer operations, working with small business machines and large-scale computer systems. He received numerous awards including the Air Force Commendation Medal for Meritorious Service.

After retiring from the military, he attended Saint Philip's Junior College and later transferred to Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas, where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Information Systems and Sociology, and a Master of Science Degree in Management and Business Administration. While attending college, he worked as a civilian in Civil Service for the Department of Defense at Kelly AFB, in the capacity of computer Program Analyst; and retires after twenty-two (22) years of service.

Deacon Tennessee was a member of Mt. Zion First Baptist Church from 1955 to present. He was an ordained Deacon in 1978 and served on the Deacon and Trustees Boards, President of the Mt. Zion First Baptist Church Brotherhood, President of Citywide Baptist Brotherhood Union, taught Senior School Class #4, Guadalupe District Brotherhood, Sang in Male and combine choir, also Solo, and worked on many committees.

 He was proud to be a member of Masonry. Under the Auspices of The Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge, Free and Accepted Masons of Texas and Its Jurisdictions, PHA. He was Past Master of Elite Lodge #462. CIC Lone Star Consistory #113, Past President Commander of The Rite, Past Excellent High Priest Shiloh Chapter #16, Past Twice Illustrious Master Williams Craig's #4, Past Eminent Commander Alamo Chapter Knight Temple #7, Moussa Temple #106 Past Illustrious Potentate and Past Imperial Deputy of the oasis San Antonio. Honorary Degrees: Past Grand Master, Past Grand Right Eminent Commander, Past Grand Excellent High Priest.

Deacon Roosevelt Tennessee was married to Beatrice Byrd of New Orleans, Louisiana, to which this union were born four children, Keith Tennessee, Ilka Rhouvel Tennessee, Tyrone Raul Tennessee, and Eric Sevareid Tennessee, he had ten grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, uncles, cousins and friends.

 He is preceded in death by his father Abe Tennessee, mother Marian Curnmings Tennessee, sister Gladys Marie Edwards, sister Faye Lee, sister Patricia "Pat" Tennessee, brother Abe Tennessee (1), brother Abe Tennessee, Jr. (2).
