Roderick Arnell Lighteard was born June 29, 1966, to Brenda Lighteard and Clarence Watson, in San Antonio, Texas.
He received his formal education in the Prince Georges County public schools in Maryland. He gave his life to Christ at an early age and was baptized at Hunter African Methodist Episcopal Church in Suitland Maryland.
As a teenager, his first job was working for the Washington Post Newspaper, as a newspaper boy/carrier. Rod along with is first dog "Sugar" made a great team delivering papers. He trained her well. Once when Rod took a summer break and left the paper delivery to Mom and Sugar. With Sugar's lead, we didn't miss a single customer; the dog new every house to lead me to.
Rod was united in marriage to Farrell Kay Sullivan and three children were born: Roderick Jr. (Amy), Randy (Quinesha) and Ryan Rico (Ebonee).
Through Rod's journey of life he had many ups and down. With his fiancée’ Darlene by his side, Faith in God, and the love of family and good friends he made it through. He had an excellent work ethic, and was recently employed with Wal-Mart. He enjoyed meeting and talking with people. He could talk.....Rod had a good heart.
Rod departed this life to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 21, 2020. He was preceded in death by his son Randy and Grandparents: Edward & Noral Lighteard (Big Mama & Big Poppa), Clarence & Geneva Watson.
He leaves to cherish his memory and love, his fiancée' Darlene Boone; two sons: Roderick Jr. and Ryan (Rico); Mother, Brenda; Stepfather, Raymond; Father, Clarence; Sisters, Kesha, Nevea, Clenisha; Niece, Nadiya; Cousin: Carlton; seven grandchildren: Tavon, Jurod, Arnayzha, Rashaud, Tahri, Ryan Jr., Randy Lucin; Aunts : Mildred Briggs, Helen Pinkard and Gloria Watson. Uncles: Jackie Sattiewhite, Bolyn & Norman Watson; also many cousins and friends.
