ROBERT WILSON Obituary

Robert P. Wilson the patriarch and head of this family, the father of three daughters and a friend of many departed this life late in the evening of February 12, 2019 at Brook Army Medical Center (BAMC). His laughter, smile and touch will be surely and greatly missed by all who knew him. We all loved him, but God loved him best.


Robert P. Wilson was born November 14,1931 in Charleston, SC to the late Willie and Lila Wilson. He was united in holy matrimony to Louise Green in July of 1951. Robert accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age. He was proceeded in death by his wife Louise Green Wilson, daughter Paulette Wilson-Jackson his parents, two brothers and two sisters.

Robert P. Wilson joined the United States Air Force in 1951 after several duty stations, he moved to San Antonio with his wife and 3 daughters. He was assigned to Lackland AFB in 1968 and in 1971; he retired from Lackland AFB after completing 20 years of faithful and honorable service. During his military tenure, he was awarded the Longevity Service Award (3 Oak Leaf Clusters), Air Force Good Conduct Medal and Certificates of Appreciation.


He united with Saint Paul Baptist Church under Pastor Sherman H. Bedford Sr., where he served faithfully as a member of the Male Chorus, Brotherhood Ministry and he attended Sunday School until his health began to fail. He was also a member of St. Paul's financial committee. He received his Certificate of Ordination as a Deacon on the Sixth Day of December 1992 where he served proudly until his death.


He leaves to cherish his memory two daughters: Betty Wilson-Ruggs and Tina Wilson-Pifer, seven grandchildren: Clarissa (Tony) Green-Byrd, Larry (Jessica) Wilson, Wayne (Deborah) Jackson, Leslie Ruggs IV, Etasha Ruggs, Envaye Wilson, and Marcus Pifer, seven great-grandchildren: Jermaine Green, Maurice Glover, Bryanna Ruggs, Destinee Ruggs, La'Rae Wilson, Quintin Dickson, and Devyn Ruggs, two sisters: Margaret Rivers and Evie Wilson and one brother: Peter (Mary) Wilson.
