RICHARD BROWN Obituary


Mr. Richard L Brown was born on April 15, 1940 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Charles Dudley Jones and Lillie Bell Brown. He was raised by his grandmother Edna Mary
Elliott who preceded him in death. He was the oldest child and Family Patriarch of 12 children. Five (5) siblings preceded him in death. They are as follows: Deborah Majors, E. Gregory Brown, Louis E. Brown, Jeffery L. Brown and John Paul Jones.

Richard accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age.

Richard had a loving kind, gentle, humble and tender spirit for others. He was very generous, a good listener and always willing to help those in need.

He enlisted in the United States Air Force 16Nov59 and retired 30Sep84 completing 25 years of Military Service. During his military tenor he served at HQ Alaskan Air
command, Langley AFB, VA, Tinker AFB, OK, Izmir, Turkey, Chanute AFB, Incirlik, Turkey as NCOIC Fitness Center, Youth Center Director, Superintendent, MWR
Division, Manager Hillberg Ski Slope and Chief Recreation Services Branch. In 1987-1994 as a DOD Civilian Employee he was the Athletic Director at Ft Sam Houston
Fitness Center. He went on to be The Fitness Coordinator (Cycle Ergometry) and Fitness Center Director at Randolph AFB Fitness Center. He retired from Civil Service
and became a NAF employee managing fitness centers at Lackland AFB before finally retiring in 2016. He had a total of 57 combined years of Government Service.

On March 17, 2001 he married Erma Meeks Hall. With this union came a blended family of four children, 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He took pleasure in
being a wonderful husband and provider and loved his family dearly. He enjoyed his job and commitment was very important to him. Love, kindness, caring and gentleness
best describes him. He was a true gentleman, a friend to many and loved by many.

On March 19, 2022 God received him into His presence and clothed him with his righteousness. He left to cherish his memory his wife Erma Meeks Brown, children
Richard E. Brown (Mandy) Janice Louise Ward (Byron), Tamara Skaggs (Thomas), Brandon Hall (Victoria) grandchildren, Marley Brown, Haile Brown, Lela Brown,
Makonnen Brown, David Bennett, Chondra Williams (Anthony) Alexander Hall and Connor Skaggs. great grandchildren, Dajshai Bennett, Ian Sol Brown, Seven Brown,
Royal Williams and Iman Williams. Brothers, Bobby E Brown (Los Angeles, Ca), Stanley M. Brown (Indianapolis, In), K. Tyrone Brown (Indianapolis, In), Willie S. Brown
(Indianapolis, In), L. Donnell Brown (Indianapolis, In), Sister, Shelida Purnell (Edward) (Indianapolis, In) and Charlene Mildred Kleine (Daniel) (Indianapolis, In) A host of loving
nieces and nephews and numerous close and dear friends.
