REV. SHERMAN BEDFORD, JR. Obituary

He was the third child born, February 13, 1940 to the late Dr. S. H. 'Bedford Sr. and the late Mary Lee Walker Bedford .His father and mother, and baby sister, Mae Willie Granderson, have preceded him in death.


He accepted Jesus Christ at an early age, and placed his membership in the St Luke Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. W. J. Johnson. He reunited with St Paul Baptist Church in 1980 and has served on the senior usher board .He accepted his call to the Gospel ministry on June 30, 1985 at St. Paul Baptist Church under the pastorate of the late Dr. S. H. Bedford Sr. He preached his first sermon on July 14, 1985 and his subject was on "A Personal Testimony".


He eventually was called to serve as the interim pastor of the Prince of Peace Baptist Church located in Schertz, Texas. He served from April 27, 1986 until December 28, 1986. He was then asked to become the head Pastor and thus served the congregation for another two years.


Rev. Bedford Jr., proudly served in the United States Army for three years and then he was Honorably discharged from the Army.


He is survived by his dearly devoted wife of 40 years, Eva J. Bedford as well as his two beloved sisters, Edlogene Harris Missouri City, Texas and Dorothy A, 'Williams, San Antonio, Texas in addition to his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, as well as a host of nieces, nephews and other dear family members and friends.
