Patricia Goodman Obituary

Patricia Bell James Goodman was born October 15, 1946 in San Antonio, TX to Mr. and Mrs. Levy  & Elsie (Taylor) James Sr. On Thursday March 18, 2021 she peacefully departed this life surrounded by her devoted family. Of this union she was the oldest daughter of six siblings.  She accepted Christ at an early age and was Baptist by Rev. Napier at West Laurel Heights Methodists Church later she joined Palestine Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. L. A. Crenshaw. Later in life she joined Jacobs Chapel United Methodist Church where she was a dedicated and faithful member. She was a member of the Gospel Choir, United Methodist Women, Nomination Committee, and she was a member along with her lifelong friend Charles Etta McVea of “The Fabulous Seven Birthday Club”

Patricia attended Grant Elementary School, and Dunbar Junior High School. She graduated from Brackenridge High School in 1965. She attended and received her barbers license from Williams Barber College. She attended St. Phillips and received her Licensed Vocational Nursing Diploma in 1969. She worked at Santa Rosa Hospital for over 20 years until she retired. She then went on to work for Humana and retired after 20 years of service. She was a longtime member of Sistas’ Book Club. 

Patricia was an outstanding example of strength with unwavering passion and support of those around her. She was a loving sister to her brother and four younger sisters and she loved her nieces and nephews.  Patricia was a loving and caring mother to her only daughter Kaycee.   She was a proud and supportive grandmother to her only grandson Terence II. She was always the life of the celebration with her infectious laughter and quick wit. She was a fashion model later in life and found great joy in participating in fashion shows for Chicos.

Patricia is survived by her daughter Kayce LaTrice (James) Hickman (Terence), grandson Terence Hickman II. Her loving sisters, Barbara James, Jacqueline Wade, Wanda (Paul) Jackson, and Dianne James, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents Mr. and Mrs. Levy James Sr., brother Levy James Jr.
