Naomi Rudd Wimberly was called home to be with the Lord at the age 82 on November 1, 2018,  “All Saints Day”  which she entered into the Kingdom of Heaven as the true warrior!!  Her parents, Estella Mae Dukes-Rudd, Henry Rudd and one sister, Ruthie Mae Rudd-Hardeman preceded her in death.  Naomi was born in Luling, Texas on December 23, 1935.  Her family relocated to San Antonio, Texas at a very young age.  Naomi accepted Christ at a very young age and a member of West Laurel Height Methodist Church, after the merger in 1966, she continued to be a faithful, committed and dedicated member at Bethel United Methodist Church for 52 years.

Naomi was united in holy matrimony to Burnell Wimberly,  a Retired Air Force Veteran.  Of this union four children were born of which she was an extremely proud mother.  To this union was born Patricia Ann, Yonne Rene , Burnell Junior and Robert Wayne.  She survives a host of grandchildren and great-grand children who she adored dearly.  She instilled the value of faith, love, family, education and perseverance not only to her children but to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren which continues to shine.  She leaves a host of cousins, nieces and nephews which she will forever cherish in spirit.

Naomi worshiped at Bethel United Methodist Church where she worked and held many levels and positions in the Church which includes: President of the Sanctuary Choir, President of Bethel United Methodist Women Unit, Vice-President of the United Methodist Women at District level, Walk of Emmaus, Certified Lay Ministry, and Vice-President of Staff/Pastor-Parish Relations Committee.  She currently held the positions as Chair of SPPRC and Communion Stewart.  Naomi continued her work for mission in the church, proclaiming the Good News and reaching out to others in love.  Her stewardship in the church was so profound that she had taking on the Nick Name of “Reverend Wimberly”.
