Mitchell Johnson Jr., age 82, passed away on September 12,2020, in his home surrounded by family after a long illness. He was born July 3,1938, to Mitchell Johnson, Sr., and Olivia Johnson in Cuero, Texas, into a large family of loving brothers and sisters.
He married Bennie (Hamilton) Johnson on December 22, 1962, and they were married for 57 beautiful years, producing 3 wonderful children. His family knew him as a loving, caring, sweet, hardworking, God-fearing
man that was cherished and respected by many he encountered.Wherever he went, you were sure to find his beautiful wife always by his side. There was not a moment they did not spend or share together.
Mitchell embodied what a great father and man should strive to be and was a shining light to everyone he encountered. He professed his faith to Christ at an early age. Mitchell belonged to Friendship Missionary
Baptist Church for over 60 years and was a Deacon, President of Choir II, Sunday School Teacher, part of the Men's Choir, and the Finance Committee, along with working faithfully in various church activities. He worked at Kelly AFB for over 20 years and JC Penney's for 15 years. He earned many awards and certificates.
Mitchell had a love of life, God, his family, and barbeque! He exhumed kindness and will fondly be remembered as "Uncle Pap." He found comfort in reading the Bible and sharing his knowledge with those
around him. He was genuinely loved by his family and will be tremendously missed and now finds peace in reuniting with loved ones.
He is survived by his beloved wife Bennie Johnson, children Darryl son (Erika), Monique Johnson Dixon (Robert), and Addie Johnson. His grandchildren, Derrick Mitchell Johnson, Katelynn Jade Johnson, and sister Audrey Mcintyre. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Preceding him in death were both his parents; sisters, Erma Stewart, Ostella Giles, Arnell Speaker, Ida Mae Johnson, Joyce Branford, and Clara Mckinnley; brothers, Nathaniel Johnson, Selester Johnson, and Arelious (Nip) Johnson.
