Michael Ellison was the fourth child of six children born to the union of Pervis Ellison and Mattie Everna Adair Ellison on January 28,1959 in Lockhart TX. His parents Pervis, Mattie and sister Gwendolyn Ellison preceded him in death. On March 20, 1999, he married Paula Yvonne Potts to this union one child was born Quincy Jasper Ellison.
Michael accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized by the late Rev Claude W. Black, Jr. at Mt Zion First Baptist Church. He served in the choir. After returning home after 28 years, he rejoined Mt Zion First B/C under leadership of Rev Otis Mitchell. He served on usher board.
Michael attended PF Stewart Elementary, Jeff Davis Jr High, graduating from Highland High School in 1977. He enjoyed extracurricular activities, including playing little league baseball in his early years with Southside Lions Club. While attending Highland HS Michael was a member of the Highlands HS Marching Band, he played the tuba where he was always 1st chair. He played baseball and was a member of the Student Council. He attended San Antonio College.
Michael was known to be a hard worker, starting early providing excellent customer service to patrons at his fathers service station. He worked for Southeast Baptist Hospital and Budget Rental Car. He moved to New Orleans in 1989; this was his home for 28 years. He worked and retired from US Airways now American Airlines for 30 years.
Michael really loved New Orleans. His church home there was Progressive Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership Of Rev Willie Gable. The simplest pleasures in life brought him great joy. He enjoyed entertaining his family and friends. He was known for his Annual Essence Fest Party where he was a master on the grill, well known for his brisket. He loved to travel, listen to music, and had a passion for landscaping. His personality was contagious to everyone he met.
Michael leaves to cherish his memory- his wife, Paula; son, Quincy; sister, Gloria Anderson; three brothers: Pervis James, Stanley and Keith (Katisha) Ellison; three Aunts: Lola Marie Ellison, Ella Ray Williams, and Maxine Young; three Uncles: Ozell, Eddie, and Laverne Ellison; three sister-n laws; three brother-in-laws and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, loving neighbors and friends.

Mike was an amazing man! I always remember showing up at MSY to non rev home to CLT and him saying you got me some eggs? My dad used to send him eggs,, andouille and stuff! You will be missed old friend! Your old friend, Suezie
