Melba passed away on January 30, 2021, with her family by her side, Melba answered the Father’s call, “Come Home.” She passed away peacefully at her home in Allen, Texas. She was 75 years old.
She was the only child of Herbert Columbus and Dorothy Mae Armstrong, born January 20, 1946 in Gonzales, Texas. She has two half-sisters Olivia Columbus and Jennifer Columbus Haafke, also two step-sisters – Ann Henderson and Novelann Costley(deceased).
Melba spent her entire career working in the Healthcare industry ultimately answering God’s call to start a non-profit 501c3 organization called BEAT AIDS that served the community at the height of the AIDS epidemic and is still serving the community 33 years later.
Melba leaves to cherish two sons George A. Johnson Jr. and wife, Charlotte, and Gregory A. Johnson and wife, Kelley; 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
