“FLIGHT PATH OF LIFE”

“Some glad morning when this life is o'er, I'll fly away; To a home on God's celestial shore, I'll fly away.”

Early Sunday morning on the 10th day of our Lord two thousand and eighteen, SMSFT(ret) Lynx Minnfee stood at attention on the Flight Path of Life, marking time, waiting to board the “red eye” flight on the plane called NO MORE.  He knew that it was bound for the Promised Land where he would be met by his Lord and Saviour, the Healer.  Lynx knew that he had family there; his father Lenex and mother Nellie Garber Woodson; brothers, Willie and Loyce and sisters, Vallie Veal and Joyce Gipson. 

Lynx’s first flight began on April 30, 1940 when he was born in Nacogdoches County, Texas. Accepting God as his Saviour, Lynx was baptized in the Church of Christ in Wellington, Texas. Soaring higher in his life’s flight Lynx valued education graduating from Morningside High School in Memphis, Texas and later earned his Bachelor’s degree from Wayland Baptist University. Lynx continued his flight when he entered active duty with the United States Air Force where he served honorably for 26 years.  Lynx proudly served his country, including two tours of duty in Vietnam and soared to the rank of Senior Master Sergeant before his retirement.   Among the many medals and citations Lynx received during his military career were:  Meritorious Service Medal with One Oak Leaf Cluster, Air Force Commendation Medal with One Bronze Leaf Cluster, Air Force Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm. 

On May 1, 1976, Lynx’s flight would lead him to marry his wife Jo Ann Franks and raised a family here in San Antonio.  Lynx and Jo Ann were married for 42 years weathering life’s storms and cherishing each other until his death.

A man with a quiet spirit, Lynx was hard working and provided well for his family ensuring they were cared for.  Knowing that work is an integral part of life, Lynx worked cheerfully and without complaint.  His strong work ethic was a witness to his children, family and friends.

God confirmed both the importance of work and rest and on his day of rest, Lynx loved to cook and maintained his family’s home.  Lynx embraced his responsibility and always responded to the needs of his children and grandchildren becoming a role model for them.   Lynx loved the time that he spent with his grandchildren and they loved him back by spending time with their PaPa and helping him when his health began to fail. 

Lynx leave to celebrate his memory, his wife, Jo Ann Franks Minnfee, daughters, Marchelia Minnfee Hallmon (Chester), Jala Adrena Minnfee, and Renee’ Lyn Minnfee.  He is also survived by his precious grandchildren, Si’yan Minnfee Hallmon, O’Ren Minnfee Hallmon, and Joshua Elijah Minnfee-Morgan; his beloved sister, Nealie Briggs of Memphis, Texas; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. 

He has completed his mission, received his commission and now rest with the Lord.
