A graceful lady, a loving nurturing spirit, a true child of God is resting  peacefully in her Savior's arms. Linda Lanice Mayberry Salas passed away on Sunday, August 26, 2018. She was born September I, 1958 in Kenedy, Texas. She was a twin and second child born to James Henry Mayberry Sr. and Lois Lanice Earl Mayberry. She was married to Abel Salas Jr. and they enjoyed 38 years together, until his death on July 1,2018. Together they shared love and joy with their children Cachae Mayberry, Edward Garza Jr., Nicole Salas Garcia, and Mark Salas and offered them a life of Christian example.

She accepted Christ at an early age at Galilee Baptist Church in Kenedy, Texas, under the direction of  Rev. Swisher, where she was an active member of the choir. In 1984, she moved to San Antonio, Texas where she faithfully attended services at St. Lawrence Catholic Church and Spiritual Church of the Open Door. She was a faithful member and servant under the leadership of  Rev. Louise Braziel-Benson of Greater New Genesis Christian Center until her death, where she was also an ordained minister  and  head usher. Serving the Lord was her lifelong desire.

She attended Kenedy High School, Bee County College, and Palo Alto College. After years of working as a Registered Nurse and at Kelly Air Force Base, she used her education to begin her career and passion to teach. She was employed in the Harlandale Independent School District as a Special Education Aid for 18 years, where she not only challenged, inspired, and supported her students every day, but also her own children, family, co-workers, friends, and her community.

She had a big heart and a loving soul. She loved helping others and always had a smile on her face. She believed in community involvement and was an active member in many community organizations, holding a position within most if not all. She was a member of the P.T.A. and also became P.T.A. President. President of Southside Little Cowboys Pop Warner organization, 5 Diamonds, Little Dribblers, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Special Olympics, and relay for life. She was very creative and put on many talent shows as well as performed in them. She loved making unique costumes for any occasions and was a great decorator for multiple events. She took pride in her work and knowing there was no project too big to tackle. Over the years she graced several newspapers, programs and websites for her one of a kind personality, generosity, and fun loving spirit.
