On May 23, 1941 a baby girl and two boys were born to A. J. Thompson Sr. and
Jeroline Hyder Thompson in Bastrop, Texas, Joyce survived the birth,
unfortunately her two brothers did not. Joyce grew up and attended school in
Bastrop, TX. She accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of Mt.
Rose Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend D.M.
Hall.
She had a daughter and later moved to San Antonio, TX. In 1961 she met and
married Carl Carter, they remained married until his death in 2002. She united with
the New Light Baptist Church where she attended faithfully until her health failed.
Joyce attended a Medical Tech School where she received her certification to
become a CNA, she worked in that field until she became disabled and could no
longer work. Joyce loved being an aunt and great aunt to her nieces and nephews.
Joyce is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, four brothers and four
sisters. She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving daughter Dorothy Aldridge of
San Antonio, TX, three sisters: Margaret Moore of Austin, TX, Adelle Halton of
Bastrop, TX, Maedell Thompson of San Antonio, TX. Two brothers: Floyd
Thompson of Bastrop, TX and Lloyd Thompson of San Antonio, TX. A host of
nieces, nephews and cousins.
Don’t Cry for Me
Don't cry for me.
I will be okay.
Heaven is my home now,
and this is where I'll stay.
Don't cry for me.
I'm where I belong.
I want you to be happy
and try to stay strong.
Don't cry for me.
It was just my time,
but I will see you someday
on the other side.
Don't cry for me.
I am not alone.
The angels are with me
to welcome me home.
Don't cry for me,
for I have no fear.
All my pain is gone,
and Jesus took my tears.
Don't cry for me.
This is not the end.
I'll be waiting here for you
when we meet again.
