JULIA NEAL Obituary

Julia Francine Neal was born February 8, 1958 to Rev. James and Sis. Hannah Neal, Sr. in Danville, VA. She was the third child born of six children to this union.

Julia and all her siblings were saved and baptized at an early age by her father, Rev. James E. Neal, Sr. under his pastorship at the Disciples of Christ United Holiness Church, Danville, VA.

Julia graduated from Parkland High School in 1976. That fall she attended AT&T University in Greensboro, NC majoring in business. In 1981, she also pursued career courses in media at Forsyth Technical University. Julia moved to San Antonio, TX in 1985 and became employed with the City of San Antonio Police Department. For her 36+ year career with the department, she has completed many leadership courses. The Administrative Assistant II position she held from 1995 to her day of departure from this world, required her to manage approximately 250 school crossing guards, along with their supervisors in the School Guard Crossing Detail Department. She loved her job, also her passion and focus was taking care of her employees and making sure they were happy in their positions which endeared them to her as a second family.

Julia loved participating in NAACP, Juneteenth, and Battle of Flowers activities.

Even though, Julia did not have children, she had a close relationship with all her nieces and nephews. She supported and loved them as her own.

She always presented herself in a professional and classy style. She loved to entertain her family and friends. In her challenges with ill health, she leaned on and talked about her faith in Jesus constantly.

She will be greatly missed by her sisters and brothers, James E. Neal, Jr., Wanda Gail Hodges, Georgetta Neal, Lorraine, ‘Elliot’ Gilliam, Gregory, ‘Stacy’ Neal and her aunt, Sally Allen.  She also leaves a host of nieces and nephews including ‘great’ nieces and nephews, cousins, and all her dear and special friends who will miss her love, beautiful smile and witty humor.
