JOYCE E STEVENS
August 30, 1950 ~ November 25, 2023 (age 73) 73 Years Old
Joyce Elaine Stevens - Beloved Mother, Aunt, Great Aunt, Great-Great Aunt, Cousin and Friend was welcomed into the arms of Jesus Christ November 25, 2023.
Joyce was the last of three children born to Alfred Lee Stevens Sr. and Earline Branch on August 30, 1950, in San Antonio, Texas.
Joyce attended G.W. Breckenridge High School and Graduated with her class in 1969. While attending Our Lady of the Lake University, she had her only child, Jennifer Lynne. She continued her education and graduated from Our Lady of the Lake University in 1975 with a minor in Home Economics and a major in English Literature.
Joyce accepted Christ at Hebron Missionary Baptist Church in St. Hedwig, Tx. She later joined Tried Stone Baptist Church in San Antonio, TX where she was affectionately known as "Auntie Joyce" to many of the Church family children.
Joyce started teaching with the San Antonio Independent School District at James Fenimore Cooper Middle School. She was an advocate for teachers (TSTA & TEA) and her classroom was a safe place for her kids. She loved teaching and the many friendships she made with fellow teachers. Joyce retired in 2007 with over 30 years of service.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Barbara L. Williams. Left to cherish her love and memories, her only child Jennifer L. Hernandez (Roberto) and her brother Alfred Lee Stevens, Jr. (Alice) and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.
