TO GOD BE THE GLORY FOR GREAT THINGS HE HATH DONE

JOHNNY JEWETT GRAY WAS BORN ON DECEMBER 20, 1948. JOHNNY WAS RAISED BY HIS LOVING PARENTS, OTIS AND EDDIE IVEY. JOHNNY ATTENDED VARIOUS SCHOOLS AS WE TRAVELED THROUGHOUT THE UNITED STATES, OKINAWA, JAPAN, AND MORROCO, SOUTH AFRICA, AS A MILITARY FAMILY.

JOHNNY GRADUATED FROM JOHN F. KENNEDY HIGH SCHOOL, SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS. HAVING BEEN ASSOCIATED WITH THE MILITARY AS A CHILD, JOHNNY WAS DRAFTED IN THE UNITED STATES ARMY. HE SERVED THIS COUNTRY IN THE VIETNAM WAR. PRIOR TO HIS SERVICE, JOHNNY WAS ALREADY AN ACCOMPLISHED, SELF-TAUGHT BASS GUITAR PLAYER IN A BAND.

IN ADDITION, JOHNNY WAS ALSO A SELF TAUGHT ARTIST. HE WOULD SEND HOME CARTOON DRAWINGS FROM WHEREVER HE WAS STATIONED IN VIETNAM. SOME OF JOHNNY'S DRAWINGS AND ARTISTRY CAN STILL BE SEEN ON DISPLAY AT THE AUDIE L. MURPHY VETERANS HOSPITAL AS COMMISSIONED BY SOME OF THE DOCTORS UOPN HIS RETURN.

JOHNNY LOVED BEING OUTSIDE; ALWAYS SUROUNDED BY  DOGS,FRIENDS, AND FAMILY. HE WAS A PITCHER ON HIS BASEBALL TEAM IN MORROCO, SOUTH AFRICA. HE WAS A BODY BUILDER, ALWAYS WORKING OUT WITH WEIGHTS. HE LEARNED TO CATCH A BIRD WITH STRING,A BOX, A STICK, AND BREAD CRUMBS. JOHNNY WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO HAVE TWO FAMILIES IN HIS LIFETIME THAT LOVED HIM DEARLY. ON MARCH 22, 2022, JOHNNY WAS WELCOMED INTO GOD'S KINGDOM AT THE TABLE SET FOR HIS ARRIVAL. ALTHOUGH WE, JOHNNY'S FAMILY WERE NOT EXPECTING IT. WE HAVE LEARNED THROUGH HIS GRACE, TO ACCEPT WHAT GOD ALLOWS.
