JAMES "BUBBA" LEWIS BIAS

James Lewis Bias was born to the late James Louis Bias and Georgene Irene Bias on August 31, 1949 in San Antonio, TX.  James was the younger of two siblings; his sister is the late Sandra Yvonne Booker. 

James passed away on September 18, 2021 at the age of 72. He was loved and cherished by many people.  Affectionately known to many as Skip, Bubba, Unc, Grandada, James, Papa Bias, Mr. James, Mr. Bias and Daddy.

James graduated from Phyllis Wheatley High School in 1967.  He was extremely athletic and had a passion for baseball and football.  He then went on to receive a Bachelor of Business Management degree from Southern University in 1972, but did attend Prairie View A & M University for a year during his collegiate career.

James was a faithful member of St. Paul United Methodist Church of San Antonio.

James worked in finance for Exxon Mobil Oil at the beginning of his career.  James made a big career change in 1996, following in his parent’s footsteps working for San Antonio Independent District for the next 14 years before retiring in 2010.  

He cherished his relationships with friends and family.   He was an active member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity.  He devoted his life to family, friends, and had a passion for travel; especially going to the casinos.  He would also spend quiet time, playing on his iPad and watching his favorite Westerns. 

James is survived by his daughters Toni Bias Fletcher, Jennifer Bias Johnson, Sharon Mckeel, grandchildren Amiyah Noel Johnson, Andrel Johnson Jr, Dominique Johnson, Joshua Johnson, Toni Celeste Mckeel and Shayla Tarver.  He leaves behind his nephew, Robert Jerel Booker, and many other relatives and friends.
