On May 28, 1942, James Edward Allen was born in Taylor, Texas; to Gussie Nevels and Leroy Allen. He spent his first 6 years living in Bartlett, Texas. Later, his mother met and married his stepfather, Eugene Burleson and moved to Marion, Texas. James attended school in Marion. He later relocated to San Antonio, Texas. In 1978, he married Lois E. Dykes. One child, Julie Allen, was born to this union. James was a very dedicated long-haul truck driver for over 35 years. He work the latter 20 years at Cardell Cabinets. He was an excellent provider for his family. There was nothing he wouldn’t do to help his family and friends. James was an excellent hunter and fisherman. He spent very much of his time fishing on several Texas lakes; as well as, on the waters of the Gulf of Mexico. He was preceded in death by his mother, father, stepfather, stepdaughter Debbie Dykes, grandson Eric Dykes and his brother Eugene Burleson Jr.
James leaves to cherish in his memories his wife, Lois Allen; his children James King (Georgia), Eva King, Evonne King and Julie Allen-Fields (Charles), his stepchildren, Wayne Johnson (Karen), Darrell Johnson, Lisa Massey (Randy) and Gary Johnson (Vicki), all of San Antonio, Texas. He also leaves to cherish his siblings, Shirley Miex, Ethel Fontelroy (William), Deloris Simmons, Charles Burleson Sr., Frankie Crothers (Lionel), Bobby Burleson (Ann), Christine Fernell (Thomas) and Dorothy Burleson (Leneshia); one uncle, Wallace Jackson, 21 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
