Herman “Guinea” Arthur Beverly began this life on April 4th 1946 in Bryan, Texas, to Robbie Lee Beverly. He was the second oldest of nine children.
Herman received his formal education graduating from E.A. Kemp High School in Bryan, TX in 1964. After graduation, he joined the Armed Forces where he served with honor. During his tour in Vietnam, with the United States Army, he exceled in “Riflemanship” and received a Purple Heart for his bravery.
Herman was proceeded in death by his mother, Robbie Lee Beverly-Thornton, stepfather Robert Thornton, grandparents A. C. and Phillip Beverly Sr., two brothers, Joe Louis Johnson and Charles Edward Thornton, who was killed during the Vietnam War in 1970, niece Katina Thornton, and nephew Herman Thornton.
Herman is survived by four sisters, Thelma Thornton (Ervin Davis), Iron Thornton, Doris (William Shakey Reeves), and Dorothy Thornton who all reside in Dallas, Texas. Two brothers Alton (Margaret) Thornton of Minneapolis, Minnesota and James (Marjorie) Thornton of Houston, TX, one nephew Michael Thornton (Mother - Dorothy), four nieces (Father – James) Jamie Lightfoot, Robbie and Debbie Thornton and Ashley McElroy.
He loved his San Antonio cousins, Donald Ray Beverly (Sharon), Cheryl Beverly, Gregory Beverly, and NaTasha Dunmon, that have always been there for him. THANK YOU !!!! Herman leaves a host of relatives and friends who will all mourn his passing. Herman enjoyed Family Gatherings. Oldest to the Youngest. He had several passions Dallas Cowboys, Fishing, and Dominos. When playing Dominos, with younger family members, whenever he won, he never let them live it down. This was Herman. On September 27th, 2019, Herman passed away…leaving an empty space in the lives of all who loved him.
