Harold "Doug" Douglas was born October 4, 1938 in Crowley, Louisiana to the late Elijah Douglas and Beatrize (Gant) Douglas. He was educated in Tarrant County public schools, where he graduated from Crowley High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served for 27 years in the medical field, and following that, for 20 years at the State Hospital. He spent his life caring for others that could not care for themselves.
On December 4, 1989 he married Billie R. Douglas and they resided in Adkins, Texas. They shared a love for nursing until retirement and raised various animals. This union was blessed with many years of wedded bliss. He was a friend and confidante to many, as people were naturally drawn to him. He quietly departed this life on March 18, 2020.
Harold was an active person, whether he was fishing, tending to his animals or visiting with friends. He was a man of few words and spoke with intention. One of his favorite pastimes was to sit on the front porch, enjoying the peace and sounds of nature. As a result of his generous spirit and pleasant personality, he was loved by many. His caring and abundant demeanor touched many people, and his influence will forever remain stamped on the lives of all who knew him. He wore many hats husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, great grandfather, cousin and beloved friend.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents Elijah and Beatrize, and daughters Carla Douglas and Sheila Douglas.
His beautiful life will forever be cherished by his loving wife Billie and his beloved children and family: children Dexter Douglas, Sherion Smith, Michael Broadus, Geanice Robinson, Derrick Francis and James Francis, and Siblings Flossie, Madeline and Priscilla, as well as a host of nieces and nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren, relatives and friends.
Due to the current Coronavirus pandemic, the funeral service will be private.
