Geneva Watson was born to Lyde Antrum and Curlie Byrd Bacote September 18, 1924, in Darlington, South Carolina and peacefully entered into rest on May 20, 2020. She met the love of her life, Clarence Watson, Sr., and married him on November 27, 1943. To this union, God blessed them with five (5) children. Clarence Jr., Gloria Watson Daniels, Bolyn E. Watson, Norman L. Watson, and Andre P. Watson. Andre (son) and Clarence Sr. (husband) both preceded her in death. After her children were old enough to be left with supportive family members, Geneva began working as a domestic housekeeper, working from sun-up to sun-down, six days a week, just to help make ends meet. Later in life, Geneva began working as a Nurse's Aide at Bexar County Hospital. She loved her work and took great pride in caring for her patients. She always taught her children to trust in God and lean not to their own understanding. She was an active member of Antioch Baptist Church and served faithfully until her health began to fade. she was loved by many. Additionally, she lovingly sacrificed for her family, always putting them before herself. Geneva and husband, Clarence Sr., were married 46 years until his death in 1986.
Geneva leaves to mourn her life, three sons (Clarence Jr., Bolyn, and Norman), one daughter (Gloria Watson Daniels), seven grandchildren (Roderick, Nevea (namesake), Clenisha, Conquita, Carlton, Sundae, and Whitney), and a host of great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren, nephews and nieces, and friends. She also leaves to mourn her memory four (4) sisters (Ruby Lincoln of New Haven, CT, Bessie Edwards of Hamden, CT., Ann Coley of Washington, D.C., and Rosa Hurtt of Baltimore, MD. She was preceded in death by sisters (Louise Chapman of West Haven, CT and Lillie Hendrix of New Haven, CT., and brothers Samuel, Irving, Frank, William, Monroe, and Leo Antrum, Theodore Bacote and Robert Lincoln.
Geneva will surely be missed. The family would like to express their gratitude and love to all who sent prayers, telephone calls, well wishes, and thoughts toward our family in our hour of bereavement. May God bless each and everyone of you.
