Eunice Jefferson began her journey July 17, 1924. Eunice was the youngest child born to Jodi Jefferson and Vera Roberts Jefferson. Eunice was born in and around Minden, Louisiana. Her older two siblings were brothers; David Lee Jefferson and Arlester James (A. J.) Jefferson. She was preceded in death by both parents and her older two brothers.
Eunice professed her belief in Christ at a very young age. Upon moving to San Antonio she eventually united with Calvary Baptist Church under the leadership of her maternal uncle Reverend Ennis Lee Roberts. She was a Christian woman, who loved God, and served faithfully in the Calvary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Robert Miller and the current pastor, Reverend Kevin L. Nelson. Of note, at one time she served as the Church Secretary. She loved the Calvary Family and was a member for approximately 75 years.
Her early education and high school years were completed in Minden, Louisiana. Eunice was employed for 40 years by the United States Government; location, Ft. Sam Houston, Texas; working as a Supervisor for 30 years in the Post Laundry and Dry Cleaning Facility. Eunice married Abe Terrell in 1943. To this union, one child was born, James Abe Terrell (aka James Abe Jefferson). James preceded her in death, demise May 2013.
Her second marriage was to Clarence Bernard Jefferson (affectionately called "Bernard"). This marriage was the ultimate meaning and example of unconditional love. Bernard and Eunice shared 54 years of marriage. Bernard preceded her in death in 2005. Eunice leaves a legacy of seven grandchildren: James David (J. D.), Terrence Adrian (Terry), Spouse, Edith; Tabitha, Clarence, Jodi, Joseph and Samantha. Great-grandchildren: Breanna, Tiara, Bryce, Branard, Justin, and Brandi; two great-great grandchildren: Harper Danielle and Austin.
During a most difficult period of her life, she began to experience declining medical problems; she moved to Fort Bend County with her former daughter-in-law, Olivia Jefferson Willrich and Olivia's spouse, Charles Elis Willrich, Eunice's health began to spiral in an extreme decline and she required 24 hour care. Also, a home health care provider came to live with "Mrs. J.". This young lady, Lakia Hunt "KiKi' devoted five months to the care of "Mrs. J". The family is eternally grateful to "KiKi" for this sacrifice.
Eunice adored her niece, Teffiney Jefferson Terrell, Fort Hood Texas; who is the daughter of A. J. Jefferson. Eunice also adored a paternal cousin, Eunice Domain, Houston, Texas. A next door neighbor, Mrs. Arlene Blair contributed countless hours in assisting Mrs. J. when she lost her sight to glaucoma.
No life is complete without the love of family, friends, church family, co-workers, and neighbors. We cannot list all of you, but rest assured she loved each and everyone of you.
