Ester Marie (Brooks) Swain was born on September 28, 1926 in La Vernia, Texas to the union of Bryant and Ida Dosido Brooks.
She accepted Christ at an early age and attended Antioch Missionary Baptist Church and was a faithful and dedicated member of St. Philip's Episcopal Church.
Ester along with her family, moved to San Antonio, Texas in 1923. Where she attended secondary school. She attended Phyllis Wheatley High School where she graduated May 31, 1944.
On July 24, 1948 Ester married the love of her life Labertic Swain, Sr. To this union a son, Labertic Swain, Jr. was born.
Ester worked for the Government, as a Civil Service Employee at Randolph Air Force Base, San Antonio Texas for 26 years. During her many years of service, she received numerous outstanding awards for her work performance, before retiring in October 1989. Ester was a charter member of the Government Girls Club which promotes charitable projects in support of selected charities; provides educational assistance to worthy young people; participates in civic enterprises in the local community and provides a spirit of good fellowship and entertainment for its members.
On Thursday, July 21, 2022, she answered God's call from labor to rest. She was proceeded in homegoing by her father Bryant Brooks, mother Ida Dosido Brooks, sisters Lucille Brooks Hawkins and Olivia Brooks Moody, husband Labertic Swain, Sr. and nephew William T. Brooks. She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving son Labertic Swain, Jr. of San Antonio, TX. Her devoted nephew George Whitfield, Jr. and wife Veronica Whitfield. A dedicated cousin Johnnie Mary Thompson. Nieces Shirley (Rodney) Collins and Elaine Williams-Brooks all of San Antonio, TX. And a host of relatives and friends.
