ERMA GRIMES

Erma Jean Grimes known as (Meme) a sweet, beautiful, andhumble songbird born in Seguin Texas, to John and Ethel Spencer, also where she attended public school.

Erma met and married the love of her life Leonard Grimes and to this union nine children were born and one adopted child.Erma loved taking care of her family, extended family, and friends. Meeting up for those Sunday dinners after church where she made her delicious desserts and sensational meals. Especially, those specialties like her Sock-It-To Me, 7-up cake and sweet potato pies.

On July 12, 1953, Erma joined West End Baptist Church(WEBC) where she was an active member and wore many hats;Sunday school teacher, BTU teacher, VBS principal and praising God with her angelic voice singing in the Mass choir. Her walk with Christ did not stop there, she was in many organizations: Mission I and II, Deaconess, Women’s Ministry,Shepherds Committee, Goodwill City Wide Missionary Council,Trustee Committee, and she was also honored as woman of the year. Erma was a member of the Mother Service Organization as well. In 2004, she was recognized as Mother of The Year. Erma entered the field of education serving several years for San Antonio ISD, as a school secretary for Pauline Nelson Elementary.

Erma Jean Grimes is proceeded in death by her husband Leonard Grimes; children: Leonard Grimes Jr., Brenda Durhart-Dixon, and Kevin Grimes; grandchildren: Truman Brown jr., Erica Bright, Adrienne Dilworth, Anthony Brown, and Jonathan Brown Son-In-law Truman Brown. 

Erma Grimes (Meme) leaves to cherish her beautiful memorieswith her daughters: Linda Johnson, Mary Katherine Brown, Laurie King (Norman), Poricha Collymore (Cletus). Sons: David Grimes, Steven Grimes (Patricia), Mark Grimes(Tennetta). God daughter: Diana Mitchell. Grandchildren: GretaJohnson, Rufus Johnson (Le’Keisha), Robert Grimes, CedricKing, Leonard King, Jovan Grimes, Candance House, and Anthony Perez. Great-Grans: Dekara Richman (Ryan), DanyceiaClements (Michael), Asa Vance, Kiya Vance, Alycia Grimes-King, Langston Johnson, Nicolas Lee, Adira Johnson, IsaiahBrown and Sam Wilbur. Great- Great-Grans: Saryah Wright, Phoenix Martin, Reign Clements, Ryson Richman, RyleeRichman, Ryder Richman, Abby Richman, and Marcellus Vance. As well as a host of relatives and friends.
