DORIS GASKIN Obituary

Doris Mae Moody was born on August 19, 1920, in Victoria, Texas, to Robert and Blanche.  She was the youngest of five very close-knit siblings: Robert, Arthur, Emile and Florene, all preceded her in death.

She attended and graduated from FW Gross high school in Victoria Texas where she met the love of her life, Leroy Gaskin. She and Leroy were married on March 13, 1941. After Leroy was honorable discharged from the Army, they moved to San Antonio, Texas and started their family.  She gave birth to four children: Betty, Leroy 111, Leon, and Bernard.

She and her family joined St. Paul Methodist Baptist Church under K.W. McMillian and remained faithful parishioners for many years.

Doris was a stay-at-home Mom who cared for her kids.  With three boys in sports, she developed a love for competitive sports.  She ultimately became an avid Spurs fan and wouldn’t talk to you if the Spur’s game was on.  She also loved competitive tennis, track and field and would even watch golf!  If they played it, she watched it.

Doris leaves a beloved family to celebrate her wonderful life: her daughter Betty (James) St. Louis MO, her son Leroy III (Jackie) Houston, TX, her son Leon (Caryl) San Antonio, TX, her son Bernard (Renette), San Antonio, TX, her nephew Kenneth Speeks (Kayte), Carson CA, 10 Grandchildren, 13 Great Grandchildren and one Great Great Grandson.
