Mrs. Cynthia Burks-Hammonds, daughter of the late Johnnie and Charlie Mae Burks was born August 9, 1959 in Bogalusa, Louisiana. At an early age she professed her faith in Jesus Christ and was an active member of New St. Mark Missionary Baptist church.
She was united in holy matrimony to Milligan Hammonds, March 26, 2014. They enjoyed shopping, going to different restaurants, and the movie theatre.
Cynthia loved to sing, bowl, decorate and was an avid shopper. As a child her and her sisters started a gospel group called the “Silver Lilies.” Three years ago, she joined the San Antonio Birthday Dinner Club and because of her generous spirit and pleasant personality, she was loved by many. Her Christian life was as beautiful as the flowers that she loved so well, and her influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew her. She departed this life Saturday, May 16, 2020 peacefully at her home in San Antonio, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents Johnnie and Charlie Mae Burks and sister Mary Helen Burks.
Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her children: LaNeika, Ronald Jr., Lorin, Albert, and Alvin; daughter-in-laws, Tywanna, Tina, Courtney, and Jamiee; Twelve grandchildren; siblings Regina Marie Burks, Ronnie Calvin Burks, Donna Patricia Clark, Gloria Vanessa Pittman, Shyrel Denise Burton, and Robin Nicole Bowlin; and a host of devoted uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
