Sis. Cophra Ann, born on August 21, 1955, in San Diego, California, was the third child of seven children, and first daughter born to her proud parents, the late Deacon & Mrs. Milton L. (Ruth Ann) Wilson. Her siblings include in chronological order, Mr. Milton H. Wilson, Mr. Ronnis L. Wilson, Mr. Eric L. Wilson (deceased), Mrs. Frankie D. Wilson-Williams, Mr. Paul T. Wilson (deceased), and Mr. Billy J. Wilson.
In 1964, Mr. Wilson re-located his family back to San Antonio, Texas, and in 1970 the Wilson family joined Christian membership with the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, under the tutelage of the late Pastor, Rev. Dr. John J. Rector, Sr. Her membership remained active there until her recent death.
Sis. Cophra Ann was educated in the San Antonio Independent School District and was a proud graduate of the Sam Houston High School (Stomping Cherokees). Upon her graduation in 1973, she moved to Dallas, Texasto attended Bauder Fashion Junior College. She attained her Associates Degree in Marketing and Fashion Design and returned to San Antonio. For a brief period she worked as a Fashion Model for Saks Fifth Avenue. She was sought out by The Queen of Soul Recruiting Board andwent on to participate as an outstanding candidate and won the title of “Miss Queen of Soul “1975.
After graduation from Incarnate Word College, with her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business and Human Resources, she became an active member of the Alpha Tau Omega Graduate Chapter. She was a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority for 42 years and was crowned in 2005 as a “Silver Star”.
March 14, 1980 Sis. Cophra Ann married the late Rev. Dr. John J. Rector Sr., Pastor of the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church. She graciously served as First Lady, until her husband’s demise, March 25, 1993. Through it all, she remained a devoted mother where she continued to love, nurture, and raise her one and only Son, Rev. John J. Rector III. She served as a member of the Ministers, Deacon, Wives and Widows Ministry, The Dorcas Circle Ministry, The Progressive Church Service Auxiliary, The Antioch Food Bank Ministry, The Antioch Greeters Ministry and the Sledge Smith Church School Ministry.
In 2002, Sis. Cophra Ann decided to enter the work force. She was employed with the San Antonio Independent School District, as the Campus Community Liaison for both Sam Houston High School, and S. J. Davis Middle Schools. She also worked as a Secretary in the School of Pharmacy at The University of Incarnate Word.
She leaves to honor and cherish her victory, her son, Rev. John J. Rector III (Jocelyn); son-in-love, Rev. John J. Rector, Jr. (Trudy); grandsons,John Joseph Rector IV, Javeion Maurice Rector; Josiah Prince Rector; granddaughters, Joi Elise Rector, Alica Rector, Antrashia Rector, Kiovanni Rector, Ashanti Rector, Teonna Rector, Cynthia D. Rector; siblings, Milton L. (Alicia) Wilson, Jr.; Ronnis (Janice) Wilson; Frankie D. (Alfred I), and Billy J. Wilson; nieces and nephews along with a host of other relatives, family members and friends.
