CLYDE SMITH, JR. Obituary

We mourn the passing of our Husband, Father, Brother, Grandfather, Uncle and Friend. Clyde Smith Jr. was born December 14, 1947 to his parent Lola Williams and Clyde Smith Sr.  Preceded him in death. Also, three sisters Livie Gaine, Peaches and recently, eldest sister Sarah Grant. Clyde leaves behind his wife/companion of over 50 years Kathleen Smith, 3 children: Kevin D. Smith, Teresa A Simpkins (Angelo) and Gregory A. Smith (Tina). Seven Grandchildren Kevin (2) Oshea and Jasmine, Teresa (2) Pierre and Goldyn and Gregory (3) Tiana Murry, Clyde Smith and Gregory Smith Jr.....and 1 Great Grand Daughter Tiana. 2 Sisters Shiano Hinton (Tom) and Lola Jacks. Beloved Brother-in-law Earl Grant. And a host of nieces and nephews and dear friends.

Clyde was born in Temple, Texas soon after he and his family moved to San Antonio, Texas where he attended Wheatly High School. In 1967 Clyde volunteered and joined the Army. He served for 4 years and returned to San Antonio with the Bronze Star for heroism. While in San Antonio he drove a Budweiser truck and was the first Black driver for Budweiser to be given his own route. In August 1974 Clyde Smith Jr and Kathleen Reese Smith entered a joyful union that celebrated their lives for over 5 decades. A strong provider, Clyde re-enlisted in the military in May 1979. He joined the United States Marine Corps and retired after 20 years returning to San Antonio a short time ago. Always quick to smile, he enjoyed sports, cooking, and loving his family. Clyde has resided at Season's Alzheimer/Memory Care facility where he was called home.
