Brian Coleman Obituary

On Monday, April 29, 1963, Horace Sr., Mary Louise and Horace Jr. “BoKie” welcomed Brian Edward to the Coleman Family. At an early age, Brian accepted the Lord and Savior at Mt.

Zion First Baptist Church. His love for Christ led him to Greater Love Baptist Church and then True Vision Church where he faithfully served on the Usher Board and as a Decision

Counselor.

Brian attended Herman Hirsch Elementary and Davis Middle School where he began his career as an avid sportsman. He continued on to Sam Houston High School, Home of the

Mighty Cherokees and eventually became a music connoisseur where he graduated with the Class of 1981.

After a short stint at Frito Lay, Brian attended Our Lady of the Lake University and received both his Bachelor and Masters Degrees of Business Administration (MBA). He began his

professional career at Frost Bank then later joined the USAA Family where he served the organization for over 20 years, while being a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).

With a servant’s heart, Brian freely gave his time for over 30 years as a Little League Football Coach (Apaches), Assistant Basketball Coach for the Covenant Community Church,

and Soccer Coach. His love for football led him to become a certified NCAA TX High School Football Referee. In addition, Brian mentored the youth of the West Side of San Antonio

through USAA’s Mentoring Program.

Of all things, Family always came first. Welcoming Brandon Jerrill sparked the journey of fatherhood and becoming a father gave Brian the most joy. On December 18, 2004 Brian

was united in holy matrimony with Precious Marie Chavis. This union was blessed with Aria Amore (14) and Caden Edward Creed (12).

On April 7, 2006, Brian was initiated into the San Antonio Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. In his quest to uphold the ideals and purpose of Achievement, Brian

excelled in every field he endeavored. As a member of the San Antonio Educational Foundation, he served as President and multiple terms as Treasurer overseeing their High

School Scholarships. In addition, he was the Chapter Membership Intake Chairperson and served on Regional Committees.
