Bernard Eric Tyronne Mccutchen of San Antonio, TX passed away on March 6, 2023 at the age of 83.
Bernard was born on May 10, 1939, to Homer and Sadie Beatrice Mccutchen in Paducah, Kentucky. He graduated from Crispus Attucks High School, Indianapolis, Indiana in 1958. After graduation he went on to serve his country and joined the United States Army. During his term in the Army he earned and had a thriving career. His military career included travels to Colorado, Europe, Korea, and Texas where he served in Missile Command, as a Medical Laboratory Technician in Hospital Administration. While serving in the US Army he also graduated with several military sponsored degrees.
In 1978, Bernard retired as a Master Sergeant. Upon the conclusion of his military career Bernard went on to continue his education where he earned degrees from St. Mary's University, San Antonio, B.A., Biology University of the Incarnate Word, San Antonio, B.A., Accounting Webster University, and San Antonio, M.A., Hospital Administration.
In 1958, Bernard married Beatrice Ann Saunders (Penny) and to this union 3 daughters were born, Vonzetta Marie, Dina Lynn, and Angela Joy.
After his military career, he spent his time doing what he loved most; dancing, golfing, listening to his music all while traveling and devoting time to
family and friends. He was very active in the San Antonio community and held several offices and honors, which includes a Mason and memberships in Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., Alamo Area Mediators Association, Queen of Soul, Inc. and Junior Achievement/Advisor.
Bernard was predeceased by his parents Homer and Sadie Beatrice Mccutchen, his sisters, Savanna Jeannie Hume, Roberta Doris Marie Jones, Mary Frances Smith, his brothers, Horace Edward Mccutchen, and Samuel Thomas Mccutchen.
Bernard is survived by his daughters Vonzetta Marie Hickman, San Antonio, TX, Dina Lynn Clark (Bryan) and Angela Joy Mccutchen, Dallas, TX, sister Sarah Belva Ann Brown, Indianapolis, IN, granddaughter Jada Michelle Hickman, Houston, TX, Danielle Adair Clark, Dallas TX, Joi Atlantis King (Frederick) Atlanta, GA, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
