Bennie Minor was born to the late Houston and Martha Minor on July 16,1927 in Smackover, (Union County) Arkansas. He was affectionately known as “Minor”.
He joined and was baptized at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, San Antonio, Texas by the late Reverend C. M. Graham. He later joined Calvary Baptist Church where he attended until his health failed.
Bennie was united in holy matrimony to Mattie Lee Brown on April 24, 1964. To this union, one daughter was born.

After retirement, Bennie attended St. Philip’s College and worked at Gary Job Corp, The Holiday Inn and later, Kelly AFB. He loved cars and trains. You could often find him railroading on his model train set. Bennie absolutely LOVED to dress! He also loved to garden. A people person with an infectious smile, Bennie lived life to the absolute fullest. His daughter and granddaughter were truly the apple of his eye.
Early on the morning of June 5, 2022, at the age of 94, God whispered in his ear and called Bennie home. He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Toni Nelson and granddaughter, Candice Nelson, both of San Antonio, Texas, nieces, nephews, a host of other relatives and many, many friends.
In addition to his parents, Bennie was preceded in death by his sister, Emma Mae Fields; son, Anthony Scott Bowers; and two nieces, Sandra Grundy and Floria Johnson.
