ANNIE BARNETT Obituary

Annie Sue Barnett was born November 23, 1942 and departed this life February 23, 2023.   She was one of seven daughters born to  the late Booker T, and  Annie Bell Gilbert.   She grew up and spent most of her life in Lawton where she worked and attended public schools.      She was married first to Henry Jackson (deceased).   She also had two older children, Charlotte Jackson and Melvin Jackson, both of whom preceded her in death. Her second marriage was to Wallace Barnett.  To this union, three children were born.

She was preceded  in death by four sisters,  Samantha “Pat”  Johnson, Irma “Georgia” Short, Lucille “Joe” Nolan, and Mary Lee Ford.

Annie Sue was a gentle woman who loved life and took joy in her family and friends.  As a military wife, she enjoyed the many places she was able to live and visit.

She enjoyed working word puzzles and listening to music, mainly the blues.  She also took great delight in sitting on the porch and enjoying the beauty of Nature.

She leaves to mourn her loss and celebrate her life:  three children, Phyllis Barnet  of  Louisiana: Wallace Barnett, and  Bonnie  Vegas of  San Antonio, Texas.  Sisters:  Booker Jean  (Tom) Thomas of Lawton, Oklahoma ,  Carrie Louise Thomas of Lawton, Oklahoma and Jequetta “Kitty” Saxon of Columbia, SC.  She will be sorely missed by her 13 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.  She leaves to cherish sweet memories a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
