ANITA CRANDLE Obituary

Anita Leona Crandle, 93, died of natural causes on April 14, 2022, in her Converse, Texas home in the presence of her children. She was born on July 6, 1928, in San Antonio, TX, the daughter of Carl Smith and Leona Carter-Smith. Anita attended Wheatly High School.  She worked as the SAISD Cafeteria Manager and at the Halfway House of San Antonio. Anita was an excellent cook; her dishes and desserts were legendary. She was a proud, dedicated, and hard worker, and is remembered with respect by people she worked with and for.  She retired in 1986.

She was a long standing and faithful member of the Ephesus SDA Church.  She loved her church, was strong in her faith, and is now resting with the Lord.

Anita raised six children.  She passed down strong family traits and was the matriarch of the family.  She touched the hearts of every one of them and stayed active in their lives providing guidance until God called her home.  Anita was Loving, Kind, Generous, Exceptionally Compassionate, Wise, and Thoughtful. Her appearance and mannerisms have been described as Regal.  She was considered a Mother by many.  Anita was fondly known for her taste in clothing and hats and had a beautiful smile that was infectious.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers: Carl Smith Jr., Thomas Smith, Austin Smith, Gary Smith, and her Son Ronald Edward Knowles.

Anita leaves behind surviving Sisters: Lois Weston—Atlanta, GA and Nora Ward— San Antonio, TX. Her Children: Leona Moszee—Suisun City, CA, Karima Wahedi—Converse, TX, Roderick Crandle—Converse, TX, Dr Kai Dupe—Redmond, WA, Karen Madden—Antioch, CA.  17 Grand Children, 27 Great-Grand Children and 6 Great-Great Grand children
