“Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain; but a women that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised.”

Willie George Jefferson, affectionately known as “Tina, Nana, Aunt Tina”, was the sixth child born to Elbert and Minnie Smith on February 26, 1924, in Port Lavaca, Texas. Her parents, two sisters, Thelma and Lilly B; four brothers, James, Fred, Robert, and Houston; and one great grandson, Hezekiah Williams, preceded her in death. She was a graduate of Phillis Wheatley High School Class of 1944.
Being raised in a Christian family, Willie professed her belief in Christ at an early age and joined Greater Corinth Baptist Church. On June 20, 1946, she was united in holy matrimony to the love of her life, Robert Langston Jefferson, and enjoyed fifty-four years of wedded bliss. To this union one daughter, Paulette Marie, was born. In 1951, she joined New Light Baptist Church under the pastorage of the late Rev. P. S. Wilkinson, Sr., where she was a member of the Senior Choir, Ministers, Deacons, and Trustees Wives’, Sarah Circle, and Vacation Bible School secretary.
On April 20, 1997, Willie became a Charter Member of New Covenant Missionary Baptist Church and served as a member of the Adult Sunday School Class #2, Sarah Circle, Silver Saints, Ministers, Deacons and Trustees Wives’ Ministry.
Willie began her employment career as a beautician. She later was employed at Kelly Air Force Base and worked as an aircraft technician installing automatic pilots on B-52 aircrafts. She retired after over 30 years of service.
“If I Can Help Somebody” was her motto so after retiring, Willie devoted her time to helping others and anyone in need. She poured her love on everyone, particularly her grandsons and great grand children. She took great pride in their academic and athletic successes as well as their career achievements. She was an amazing woman who gave unselfish, everlasting love. Willie was a true representative of God’s love.
