VICTORIA FELDER Obituary

Ms. Victoria W. Felder was born on November 24, 1959 in Baltimore Maryland to the Late Trustee Harvey Watson and Late Ms. Shirley Woolfolk at John Hopkins Hospital.  She departed this life on Tuesday February 6, 2019 after a prolonged illness at the Vitas In-Patient Hospital, San Antonio Texas.

Sister Victoria graduated from the Patterson High School, Baltimore Maryland in 1977, one year early with honors, Major Business/Marketing.   She attended Burling County College, Pemberton New Jersey, 1988-1992.   Completed Christian Enrichment studies from 1989 to 1994, Bethany Baptist Association Institute of South New Jersey.

Sister Felder worked professionally at various positions: 1st National Bank of Shreveport Louisiana-Account Department, Department of Defense (Civilian) in Finance-Travel Pay Operations, AAFEES in Marketing/Retail Sales, and manage a DOD sanctioned Home Child Care Center.

For many years, Sister Felder was proud owner/proprietor of “Victoria’s Paradise”.   A masterful chef, who uniquely brought a flavorful Baltimore – New Orleans styled flair to your table.  Mastered the famous Maryland seafoods.  Participated and won numerous cooking awards throughout the years.  Always sponsored the “Taster Choice” events at churches and military bases during African American History Month Celebration.  She was a favorite choice of the Late Deacon Ambrose Thompson.  For three consecutive years, she masterfully catered the Annual SA City-Wide Baptist Brotherhood Dinner enjoyed by hundreds-numerous rave reviews.

She has traveled globally as her husband served in United States Air Force, 1977-2001.   As wife and mother, traveled and made homes at Keesler Air Force Base Mississippi, Barksdale Air Force Base Louisiana, Dover Air Force Base Delaware, Kadena Air Force Base Okinawa, Hill Air Force Base Utah, McGuire Air Force Base New Jersey, Misawa Air Base Japan, and Kelly Air Force Base Texas.

Vicky accepted Christ as her personal Savior at the New Hope Baptist Church, Chase and Wolf Streets, Baltimore Maryland in May 1973.  Sister Felder and family united with the Macedonia Baptist Church in October 2002.  She was a faithful servant of God, a founding member of MBC God’s Ring Marriage Ministry.  Supported the Nursing Home Ministries and utilized her renowned culinary skills for numerous social/church events.  Until her illness, was a faithful member of the MBC Women’s Class Number Two.   Sister Felder was a charter member of the local Serendipity Women Bible’s Group facilitated by Minister Janice Brown, “The Serendipity Ladies”.

Sister Felder was an unmovable supporter of Social/Civil Rights and Gospel ministry efforts of her husband.   A passionate and major force in the foundation and formation of Misawa Japan NAACP Chapter #1172 in November 1995.  She personally aided in registering over 190 new NAACP charter members in just two weeks to form a new Chapter #1172.   A first ever in the land of northern Japan.   This NAACP Chapter won the coveted NAACP Trailblazer Award as best new chapter for the years of 1996-7.  She was on the front-line in registering 250 parents-students signatures to support the drive to include multi-cultural History and Social Studies at DoD Schools in Japan.  1996-1998, her culinary talents led the way in raising over $10K Private Organization Funds for NAACP Chapter 1172.  Sister Felder’s NAACP contributions was lauded by the Misawa Air Base 3 Star General Norwood and the late Dr. Archie Buchannan, (Pacific Jurisdictional Prelate Bishop, COGIC), President Alaska-Hawaii-Japan State Conference.  1989-91, Served faithfully in her role as a Deaconess and Minister’s wife at Union Baptist Church, Bordentown New Jersey, Rev. Johnnie L. Williams, Pastor and at Mt Calvary Baptist Church, Pleasantville, New Jersey.   1995-98, Sister Felder dreamed with her husband in the formation of the first ever African American - Missionary Baptist Mission-Church in Northern Japan.   Named the 1st Trinity of Mt Calvary Baptist Mission.   She graciously served as the First Lady during her husband’s first pastorate in Northern Japan 95-98.  What a helpmate, only God can give such a special lady to a man from Baltimore.

Sister Felder never missed an opportunity in serving humanity. During her days in New Jersey, she set up a home pantry that supplied milk, pampers, and basic infant needs for young mothers on McGuire Air Force Base.  If it stormed, snowed, or if the local AFFES Store was closed, young mothers could come by “Queenie’s House” to get what they needed for “free”.  She would later add clothing and food for the homeless in Bordentown New Jersey.

The 70’s Forever Love story:   Queenie” & Ernest mutually met the love of their life a revival April 1973, conducted by the Late Dr. Harold A. Carter Sr, Shiloh Baptist Church Baltimore Md.  She was a beautiful 14-year-old teen visiting Ernest’s church, Faith Baptist Church-East Side.  Ernest was 16-year-old teen and proudly ushering at that revival service.   The Revivalist asked everyone to join hands for the benediction prayer.  Just happens that Ernest’s ushering post was next to Vicky and her mother.  Their joining of hands led to mutual glances and quick glances away throughout that long-spirited benediction.  Both left the service and went home “without getting those digits”.   Two months later, as destiny would have it, Vicky and Ernest would accidentally meet again another church, Metropolitan Baptist Church, in West Baltimore for an afternoon worship service.   Vicky quickly reminds Ernest of their hand holding during prayer just two months ago.  She adds, “I’m lost, I don’t know where my bus stop location is for #13-East Baltimore.  My ride and other choir members did not show up today.  Now I don’t have a ride home.   I gotta find my bus stop to get home.”   Being the ultimate gentleman, Ernest seizes the opportunity to assist Ms. Helpless Vicky.  The Bus Stop issue was suddenly delayed.  Both spent the next four wonderful hours walking, talking, and romancing in famous Eutaw Place Park.  Ernest can’t even dance but had a kiss to seal the deal.  That was 4.30 p.m., Sunday afternoon.   They did not find that Bus Stop until 9 p.m.   Yes, he still had enough sense to make sure Vicky met her curfew.  The next day, Ernest could wait until school ended.  He found her home and got those seven digits.  Since that day, it has been 46 years full of romancing, and 42 years of holy matrimony.  Their favorite response to how long have yall been married?   The quick response was always, “All of my life”.  So classy, Vicky knew when they really needed to hear a Gladys Knight to chill or put on a Shirley Caesar to keep that relationship fresh and intact.  They were dangerously in love.

Sister Felder was the ultimate mother.   A strong woman displayed no weakness in managing home affairs and raising disciplined-loving children.  Did not have to ask them anything twice-it was done.  Maintained a mother-sister relationship with both Errika and Tanya.  Erik was always her baby boy.  The most innovative home designer, home reflected her international travels.  She was a most prolific shopper-ouch the checkbook.  Always maintained an immaculate home setting for her family.  A fierce protector of her husband and children.  Ernest exploited the strengths in the marriage.  When insensitive situations would occur in business or social matters, sometimes “red tape or game playing” prevented a quick resolve.  He would say, you can deal with me or I’ll let Queenie diplomatically handle this.  Queenie rescued every time.

She was a most devoted wife of 42 years to Reverend Ernest E. Felder Jr., native of Baltimore Maryland.  Her devotion to her children Late Errika C. Felder (Deceased April 13, 2017), Tanya Felder Smith, and Erik Ryan Felder (US Navy) gave much honor to motherhood.  They lacked for nothing.  Queenie and Errika are now forever together.

Loved her some grandsons Trenton J and Malachi, and God Children:  Markie, Tamika, Frankie, Ava, Kira, and Charnet.

“Queenie” was joined in Heaven by her 106-Year-Old Godmother, Ms. Cornelia Walton, Faith Baptist Church, Baltimore Maryland.  Joined Vicky two days later February 8, 2019.   She was one of oldest citizens in Maryland.

Survived by Siblings (Paternal Side):  Angela Jones, Stephanie Wilder, James Watson Jr.  Preceded in Death By:  Father James Watson, Mother Shirley Woolfolk, (Maternal Side) Sister Gail Hester, and Brothers Jernay Holly and James Holly.
