Samuel Lee Wood was born in San Antonio, Texas on March 27, 1949 to Willie Woods, Sr. and Frances Bedford Wood. He dedicated his life to Christ at a very early age. St. Luke Baptist Church was his church home for most of his life and he later placed membership at New Union Missionary Baptist Church. Dedicated, faithful, dependable and loving were all descriptive characteristics that fit him as a servant in God’s kingdom.
Samuel graduated from J. T. Brackenridge High School, spent three years in the United States Army, finished two years at St. Philips College, spent seventeen years at the San Antonio Fire Dept as a Mechanic, one year at Luby’s as a Dishwasher, three years with the San Antonio School District in Maintenance and he worked wherever he was needed at New Union Missionary Baptist Church. He truly believed in working!
His parents preceded him in death and he leaves to mourn his passing a faithful and loving friend, Juan Vinton; one brother, Willie Woods, Sr., two nephews Marcus and Robert Wood and their families whom he loved dearly; and a host of other relatives and friends who fondly referred to him as Brother Boy.
