ROBIE BROWN Obituary

On April 14, 1930, a divine lady named Robie Bertha Lovings (Tut), was born in Ledbetter, Texas to Jessie and Willie Mae Lovings. Her father and mother preceded her in death.

Robie attended Post Oak School in Ledbetter, Texas up until grade school. She then took on the role of assisting her mother by raising her younger siblings while her father worked on the railroad. In her adult life she was married to James Milligan, into this union two children were born, Betty Joyce Milligan and Louis Milligan (Tom). She was preceded in death by her first husband James Milligan, she later married Johnnie Floyd Jefferson and through this union they were blessed with a child, Johnnie Floyd Jefferson, Jr.

At a early age Robie accepted Christ by attending Triumph Baptist Church in Ledbetter, Texas. She later made her home in San Antonio, Texas. She made Bethel A.M.E.  her first church home in San Antonio, where she participated in the gospel choir and cooked for many church activities. She was also a member of the Easter Star Lodge chapter of San Antonio and later moved her membership to Second Baptist church.

Robie was employed at Fort Sam Houston as a food technician and later a specialized cook for many families up until her retirement.

Every year Robie took pride and joy coordinating and contacting family members near and far about her family’s annual family reunion in Giddings, Texas. She loved her family very much and could often be caught smiling and reminiscing about old times with her family members and childhood friends.

The good Lord called Robie home Thursday, December 5, 2019. She leaves to cherish her memories: her daughter Betty Milligan (Eddie) of Artmore, Alabama; her son Louis Milligan (Gladys) of Houston, Texas;  and her youngest son Junior, Johnnie Jefferson, Jr. (Sonya) of San Antonio, Texas; grandchildren Christopher, Bryce, Cheryl, Evette, Chris, Lisa, Glenda and many great grandchildren; sisters Maude Lovings of Giddings, Texas, Gracie Mae Smith of Houston, Texas; brother Irving Lovings (Emma) of Houston, Texas; and a host of family and friends. She was also preceded in death by her husband Johnnie Floyd Jefferson; sister Clurmmett Jean Green; brothers Duel Lovings, Samuel Lovings, and Lyodd Lovings.
