Robert was born in San Antonio, Texas on August 15, 1948 to the late Robert Ricks, Sr and Clara Pace Ricks. Robert was called to eternal rest on October 27, 2019 at Brook Army Medical Center, Fort Sam Houston, TX after a courageous battle. He is reunited with his father Robert Sr, and brother Edward Sr.
Robert graduated from Highlands High School in 1967. After graduation, he attended Texas Southern University on a football scholarship, but left to play for the semi-pro football team, the San Antonio Eagles as a walk-on.
Robert enlisted into the United States Army in 1974 where he served as a combat medic. During his time in the Army, he pursued and received his Bachelors of Science in Occupational Education from Wayland Baptist University. Some of his decorated awards received during his time in the military consisted of a Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal (1st OLC), Army Commendation Medal (2nd OLC), Army Achievement Medal (2d OLC), Army Good Conduct Medal (8th Award) and many more. He served over 24 years of faithful and honorable service, before retiring in 2000 as a MSG.
Robert will be truly missed. He is survived by his mother Clara Ricks of San Antonio, TX; his three daughters, Lauana Hall of San Antonio, TX, Leatrice Ricks of Waldorf, Md, and Treva Ricks of San Antonio, TX; his grandchildren Trenea, Terence, Desiree, Darius, and Tremaine; 2 brothers, Roy Sr (Cheryl) of San Antonio, TX , and Edmond Ricks of Houston, TX; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
