PASTOR ERIC WHITE Obituary

Celebrating the Life and Legacy of Eric Marlon White

On March 10, 1954, Eric Marlon White was born the proud son of William and Peggy Cooper in Topeka, Kansas.  He was the first born child of seven siblings.

He attended public school in Topeka and excelled in sports. He ran track, played football and basketball and was on the wrestling team as well.  Eric graduated from Topeka High in 1972.   Seven years later he joined the Navy and graduated from boot camp in San Diego CA.  He then went to Hospital Corpsman C School and became a Hospital Corpsman and served with the United States Marine Corps.  His duty stations included tours in Korea, Japan and San Diego CA.  He was honorably discharged in 1984.

Eric and Annie were joined in Holy Matrimony on January 5, 1985.   Through their union they were blessed with two beautiful children, Brandon Dewayne and Brittney Denise.  Eric was also the proud father of Joseph White.

After leaving the Navy he was employed with The San Antonio Water System and retired after twenty-six years of service.   He worked for Highlands High School for five years, before being employed VIA Metropolitan Transit Company as a bus operator.   Eric was a hardworking and devoted husband and father. He was able to use the opportunity as a bus operator to witness and minister to the passengers about the good news of Jesus Christ.  He loved people and always took the opportunity to share in their lives.

Eric surrendered his life to Christ in 1997 and served as a deacon under the leadership of Pastor Mervin Neous at Church of The Living God Pillar & Ground of Truth Temple No. 3 here in San Antonio, Texas.  Later Eric, Annie and their family joined Healing Temple under the leadership of Pastor James Lewis & Lady Janice Lewis.   Pastor White was directed by God and answered the call to Pastor at Tabernacle Ministry Church of God in Christ.  Pastor White loved, preached, blessed and poured out into everyone who came to worship.  He ensured that he did everything he could to help the community.

Eric leaves to cherish his memories and love with his wife Annie, his daughter Brittney, son in law Trey, beautiful loving grandsons Macahi and Mikal.  His son Brandon’s best friend, Hal Clark, became a son to Eric, along with god-son DeAndre Eubaine.  Eric was the oldest of his siblings: Mark (Tina) of Kansas, Derrick (Tammie), Craig (Tracey, Rochelle, Terry and Michael (Annette) all of Texas.  God-siblings:  Cheryl, Cynthia and Marcell of Texas. God-brothers and god-sisters:  Maria Austin, Lois Hartfield (Robert) of Virginia Beach, Mary Bolden (Lawrence) and Dujana of Texas, Sisters- in-law, nieces, nephews and six god-children.  His Aunts:  Betty Watson of Kansas City Missouri, Brenda Cooper of New Orleans, Elevine Cooper of Kansas City Missouri  and his favorite cousins Debbie Williams and a host of relatives.  Both sons Brandon and Joseph preceded their father in death and were waiting to greet Eric at Heaven’s Gates.
