Ora M. (Francis) Arch was the fourth child of eight born to Mr. Sherman Francis and Mrs. Rosie (Hayes) Francis in Fayette County, TX on October 13, 1922. During her early school years she attended Fayette County School System.
Early in her adult life Ora would relocate to the San Antonio area in pursuit of a better quality of life and career opportunities. In her relocation she met and married Mr. Sterling Arch in 1954 and to this union one son Raymond (Butch) Francis.
Ora M. Arch was employed with the Bexar County Hospital District until her retirement from that facility in 1981. She was also employed for many years with the San Antonio School District as a cafeteria employee until yet another retirement. In 1998 she was presented with the “Distinguished Service Award” for service rendered. Her affection for cooking would often be reflected in the meals she prepared for family dinners and gatherings.
Ora was preceded in death by her parents Sherman & Rosie Francis; husband Sterling Arch; son Raymond Francis; siblings Lillie Wilkerson, Monroe Francis, Delphine Crump and Elizabeth Hill.
She is survived by her sisters Essie M. Crump of Beasley, TX; Gladys M. Pettit of East Bernard, TX and Grace E. Finley of LaGrange, TX; one granddaughter Tammy M. Watkins and two great-grandsons, Jaylin C. Watkins and Cameron Toppings of Georgia; and a host of nieces and nephews and an array of devoted extended family and friends.
Her love and affection developed a relationship with almost everyone she crossed paths with. Such sincere and devoted relations are best noted by the individuals who are her closest companions and confidants being Rosalind & Earl Jackson & family, Oscar Ford & family, Jeff Gillmore & family, Ms. Obey Hicks, Delores Studavent, Jacqueline Lee, Rev. Dr. & Mrs. H. Fritz Williams, and many others in the community and neighborhood too numerous to name.
