Murlene McKinney Carpenter was born September 10, 1923 to Wesley
and Louvernia Forcey McKinney, in Rural, Guadalupe County, Texas.
Her parents preceded her in death. She was the 3rd oldest of six
children. Sisters Evelyn Proctor, Bernice McKinney and brothers
Wesley, Clifton and Milton McKinney all preceded her in death.

She sought Christ at an early age and united with St. Paul United
Methodist Church in San Antonio, Texas under the pastoral leadership
of Rev. Ernest Smith. She was a faithful member serving in the
Sunday School, United Methodist Women, Women's Bible Class,
Communion Stewart and MYF Youth Leader.

Murlene, known to close family and friends as "Murl" grew up in the
Sand Hills Community where she received her early childhood
education at Roosevelt School. She was a good cook and she was
known for her homemade rolls, German chocolate cakes and peach
cobblers.

She continued her education at Tillotson College at Austin, graduating
with a degree in Home Economics in 1945. Murlene taught high
school home economics in Sand Hill. She was also a caregiver to
family members and a domestic worker.

Murlene moved to Aurora, Colorado to take care of her grand-
daughter in 1992 where she affiliated with Park Hill United Methodist
Church in Denver, Colorado. She returned to San Antonio in June
2016 and reaffiliated with st. Paul, her home church for over 66 years.

Murlene departed this life Sunday, May 5, 2019 to her eternal resting
